A 'lil sumn 'bout Sumn...

A Digital Sandbox for the Curiously Minded

I suppose I should start by clearing the air; while you might recognize my voice from my other digital haunts, this blog is not merely a subsidiary or a repetitive echo of my brand. In fact, I like to think of it as a stark departure from the structured confines of my usual work. I intend to use this space to muse, reflect, and—let’s be honest—occasionally rant about whatever happens to capture my attention at any given moment.

Whether I am geeking out over the sleek lines of modern architecture, dissecting the latest shift in technology, or perhaps sharing my latest (and hopefully edible) experiments in the kitchen, nothing is off the table.

“This is my personal playground where science, art, photography, and the occasional musical revelation collide without the need for a formal invitation.”

Moreover, I will be using this platform to drop the occasional announcement or update on projects I deem fit for public consumption. It’s all about having a space where I can engage with the world on my own terms, free from the rigid expectations of a specific niche.

The Reluctant Scribe and the Pursuit of Quality

Now, it is somewhat ironic that I have started a blog at all, considering I actually (and quite passionately) hate the act of writing!—Ironic, I know, considering you are currently several hundred words into my digital debut!—given how much of it I actually do for my scripts and newsletters!

However, since I never felt the urge to create a dedicated blog for my brand—what with the podcast and the weekly letters already taking up a fair bit of my cognitive bandwidth—this site felt like the perfect compromise.

  • No Fixed Schedules: I refuse to be a slave to a calendar (though I very much respect it).
  • Quality Over Quantity: I would much rather post one profound thought than ten pieces of “fluff.”
  • A “Quality over All That Jazz” Approach: If I have nothing worthwhile to say, I simply won’t say it (a rare trait in the digital age, wouldn’t you agree?).

The thing is, even though the frequency of my posts might be a bit erratic (like trying to find a matching pair of socks in a dark room), I do strive to check in as often as my schedule allows.

A Glimpse Behind the Name

In case you’re still wondering, I am Tany McLeod—though most people just call me “Tany”—and, if you have followed my journey, you know I am the architect behind the balanced FLUX philosophy. While I am loath to sound boastful (nothing is more off-putting than someone narcissistically blowing their own trumpet, after all), I take a quiet pride in the systems I have built. From launching a solo podcast that reaches ears across the globe to crafting The TENets Framework (adopting The Five MODES to overcome The Five FLAWS), which actually helps people navigate their mental landscapes, I have dedicated my adulthood to mastering learning the complexities of the human mind and growth. I am someone who finds as much joy in a perfectly composed photograph as I do in a well-executed productivity system.

From the Labyrinth to the Light

To understand why I am so obsessed with “systems” and “solutions,” you have to understand that my early years were—to put it mildly—a bit of a gauntlet. My childhood and early adulthood were significantly rough and emotionally taxing (a confusingly complex maze of hurdles, if you will).

However, looking back with the benefit of hindsight, I wouldn’t trade those hardships for a smoother path. They served as a crucible, refining my character and preparing me for the tumultuous nature of life.

During those challenging times, I retreated into the fascinating world of books—mystery novels, mostly—before finding my way toward the more “utilitarian” world of self-help and psychology. This, in turn, sparked an insatiable, almost visceral thirst for understanding the human mind. I found myself constantly asking:

  • Why do we suffer emotionally?
  • What are the underlying mechanisms of our discontent?
  • How can we devise practical strategies to circumvent these everyday psychological traps?

The Simple Complexity of a Legacy

My essential purpose in life is both incredibly simple and maddeningly complicated: I want to help you become the best version of yourself. And that is the “why” behind every word I write and every piece of content I publish. While it sounds like a lofty ambition (and perhaps it is!), I am driven by the desire to leave a legacy that actually matters. Having said that, I am well aware that you might not agree with every conviction I hold or every rant I go on (and that is absolutely fine!).

“People don’t need to see eye-to-eye on everything to walk the same path; It’s okay to agree to disagree as long as everyone remains respectful, considerate and thoughtful.”

So, please, don’t be a stranger! Feel free to reach out and say hello via email or social media (I promise I don’t bite, unless of course it’s a Belgian chocolate burnt Basque cheesecake!).

Anyway, at the end of the day (or the start of a new one, depending on your timezone), I truly hope you find these posts entertaining, perhaps a bit sophisticated, but most of all, genuinely helpful. That said, thanks for stopping by and taking this long-winded journey with me (well, to the end of the page, at least!).
